MAKHANA TIKKA

 

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups Makhana (fox nuts)
  • 1 cup hung curd (thick yoghurt)
  • 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tablespoon oil for grilling
  • Skewers

 

Instructions:

  1. Heat a pan and dry roast the Makhana until they become crispy. Set aside.
  2. Combine hung curd, ginger-garlic paste, coriander powder, cumin powder, garam masala, and salt in a mixing bowl.
  3. Add the roasted Makhana to the marinate, ensuring they are well coated. Let it marinate for at least 30 minutes.
  4. Preheat the grill or oven.
  5. Skewer the marinated Makhana, bell peppers, onion chunks, and tomatoes if desired.
  6. Brush the skewers with oil and grill or bake until the Makhana turns golden brown.
  7. Serve hot with mint chutney and sliced onions.

 

Tips:

  • For a smoky flavour, you can use a charcoal grill or add a drop of liquid smoke to the marinade.
  • Adjust the spice levels according to your preference by adding more or less spices.
  • Soak the skewers in water for 30 minutes before threading to prevent them from burning during grilling.
  • Garnish with fresh coriander and squeeze lemon juice before serving for added freshness.
